" I finished reading your book. An incredible story of your father and the other men; so courageous. What an incredible gift you have from your heart that you attributed to your father and all the heroes and families who endured the painful struggles of such a difficult time in history. You gave them all a token of love and appreciation. I can't even grasp what they endured. Your dad was certainly a hero. It was a heartfelt book, beautifully written. This book will live on forever." -Karla B
"My family are totally into the hair raising encounters! Wartime is hell! You did a fantastic, fabulous job in bringing us readers right into the Captain's life--his own feelings where one becomes part of those up and downs. Between reading, we are talking things through and actually felt their dilemma, but always in reality, that at any moment their faith could turn. Therefore, how could they ever let them relax? Thank you for sharing your stories." -Elizabeth M.
"You are a gifted writer with a keen sense of historical drama and a talented researcher of elusive events several generations ago. Few works on the naval aspects of WWII tell as passionate and well-researched a story as yours. I have come to know your family and the Franken's in a sense that proves how former adversaries can agree on the preferability of peace overt war and the notion that we owe our children, at last, a world free of ideological conflicts and the violence they bring." -Eric R.
"This is one of the most fascinating reads of WWII. It is exceptionally well researched on both sides; the USA and the Nazi Navy. More importantly to me. It is such an interesting read. This story is about two good human beings, not our young man versus a horrible enemy. They both had lives, wives, children, and very difficult jobs to do. It helped me to see, I think for the first time, through the eyes of a person who was the enemy in that war. Very significant to me. ." Bill M.
The present narrative is centered on the period of World War II, during which the killing of enemy combatants was rewarded and victory was the ultimate objective. Notwithstanding, the narrative is not focused on the individuals who were unsuccessful in their endeavors. Rather, it highlights the significance of honor, specifically for those who performed their duties to the best of their abilities under challenging and demanding circumstances. Irrespective of whether success was achieved, these individuals are deserving of honor since they fought for their country. Their stories, which have remained untold, need to be shared, and the lessons derived from them ought to be remembered. In doing so, we pay tribute to these heroic individuals who made significant sacrifices for their nation. This narrative is attributed to Lee Bryan, an author.
